Alright, anyone remember the old BBS systems? I was recently talking to Thorian about these, and how awesome they were. It was a primitive form of what you know of the Internet today. You could dial into the server and receive messages from other users, use forums, play games, etc. A lot of the basic functionality is still found on the Internet as we know it today. The graphics were funny, as BBS systems were DOS based. White text on black, Color Blocks and ASCII art.
I had a great time when I was around nine years old, playing on the BBS my dad had set up, which was called, "The Workman", I think. I found the idea behind these old forums fascinating, being able to read these messages from miles away of it's origination. Today, we live in a world where this idea is now assumed, as if it existed forever. Thanks Webbernetz 2.0 *rollseyes*. Bulletin Board Services are one of my fondest memories starting out on computers.
